The Basilica is located on a busy arterial road but in an attractive garden setting | A further view of this splendid building with its well tended grounds. This building is among the largest parish churches in the country with a total length of 170 feet and its dome rising to 100 feet in height. The church was opened in October 1918. |

The church was designed by the Australian architect Rodney Alsop, better known for distinguished commercial and academic work including the prestigious Winthrop Hall at the University of Western Australia. The building was dedicated in 1928. |
A major feature of this building is a fine collection of stained glass windows - many by Napier Waller an artist who overcame the loss of one arm in World War 1 to create a distinguished career in a various forms of art including stained glass and mosaic. |
